I'm an experienced rubyist. I want to learn a new language to add more tools to my tool belt.

Here is that list of languages I find interesting, and why:
- #golang , which I have already used to build a microservice. Why? Compiled, fast, concurrent.
- #Rust Why? The new #C, compiled, fast, ability to build ruby extensions
- #Elixir Why? Functional paradigm, concurrent, sexy, natural for a rubyist

- #Haskell Why? Out of curiosity

ついにCrystal言語のv1.0.0がリリースされました。

言語仕様がFixされ、後方互換性を長く維持していく段階に入りました。いよいよ、本腰を入れて使う時期が到来したなと思います。感慨ひとしおです。

私の身近なところでは、ハッシュタグリレーやFedibirdリレー（pub-relay）が、Crystal言語を使用しています。

Rubyと非常によく似た記述を行える言語ですが、独自の部分もあり、Rubyの経験がある人は非常に入りやすいですが、似て非なる言語です。

コンパイルして単一バイナリを生成してから実行するため、実行速度は非常に高速です。

また、明示的に型を記述する文法で、型に起因するエラーをコンパイル時に検出する能力が高いため、コードを記述していて非常に安心感があります。

今は出たばかりで、様々なShards（Gemに相当）が、v1.0.0に対応するためにアップデートしている段階です。

少しするといろいろ情報が出てくると思いますので、ご注目ください。 #crystal
