I absolutely do not regret joining the
#Misskey universe after spending so many years on #Mastodon. Its #markdown system even supports #ruby text, something neither #Discord nor #GitHub even thought up! Will #Akkoma or even #GlitchSoc add support for this in the future?

#MastodonTips

Did you know you can format your posts with #Markdown? At least in our server and all others that run on the 'glitch' variant of Mastodon.
To activate it by default: Settings > Preferences > Other > Default format for toots > Markdown

Quick tutorial in the thread below; additional tips welcome! 🔽

Has anyone been using #writefreely or a similar alternative as a #blog ? My main domain is hosted at medium.com , and all of a sudden I stumbled upon this. This is not a sudden thought, and I'm just happy I saw this.

It's a #markdown -based #opensource #selfhosted #activitypub supported #blogging platform written with #golang

writefreely.org/ ( @writefreely )

They also have a #hosted platform write.as ( @write_as ) if you're also into it.

Hmm anyone know some good tutorials for working with HUGO and markdown?

Massive spreadsheets will only get you so far.

I've started using Obsidian to organise my notes on all the gins I'm tasting for the book I'm writing.

It's great, you basically build a personal wiki to organise and link up all your knowledge.

I've only plugged a handful of them into it so far, but already the graph showing my notes and how they're linked looks like this.

@Vivaldi What about the rest of us millions of people in the #Fediverse, and the millions more coming soon with #Tumblr and #Imgur integrating into the Fediverse?

Even #WordPress and #Drupal call their integrations "Fediverse" and #ActivityPub.

Platforms like #Friendica, #Soapbox, #Pixelfed, #Pleroma, #PeerTube, #Misskey, #Mitra, #Akkama, #Calkey, #FunkWhale, #Hubzilla, #MicroPub, #Hometown, #Quanta, #Epicyon, #GoToSocial, #Socialhome, and many many more Fediverse platforms with people seamlessly engaging and interacting with each other globally...

And you choose to place the logo of a single Fediverse platform - a Fediverse server with one of the most limited feature sets of all, in your sidebar?

Know that mastodon interaction is identical to most any other Fediverse "brand" above, except that it doesn't render #Markdown and other types of text input, and only enables a paltry limit of 500 characters per post, doesn't support quoted boosts like the others, and after all this time only in the last month has introduced an "edit" function standard in other Fediverse servers for years.

Perhaps your choice to commercialize and capitalize on that single brand to the detriment of the others, is more of a #disservice to those of us who have been advocating for and using #Vivaldi, than any sort of benefit it could have been to the great asset that the #FOSS built Fediverse is to decentralized social networking and safe communications for people around the globe.

You made a really bad call there.

Those questions aside, Canvas in #Obsidian feels a lot like Scapple, but with the killer feature of being linked to my #markdown notes.

As long as I don't add too much Canvas-created text on the page, I can be confident the notes and images will remain even if Canvas disappears.

Need to Transform
#markdown to #html ?

Well with plugins you may be able to do so!

docs for plugins are still on the way and are fairly more limited than other kind of plugins in the web dev ecosystem but given what we've got and that this can be used outside node... I think we're fairly ok
😅

Disappointed that when I use the #iOS standard share sheet from Safari to #ObsidianMD #obsidian it only inserts the URL and not the title in []() #Markdown format.

I’d also love to be able to change to a different vault and maybe add some leading/trailing text (such as “- [ ] #ReadLater” before with some background as to why after, for example)

Does anyone have an action, shortcut, or plug-in that does the job?

This may sound weird to some of you, but today, I spent more time being productive at work then I did being engaged with the Mastodon / federated community. Felt good! #powerbi (not my favorite, but it's paying bills!)

Tomorrow I'll be tweaking some #python to improve an #azurefunction that selects files and delivers them somewhere. (Vagueness for confidentiality!)

But I _am_ enjoying the community. Even if I cannot use #markdown in my posts like I really want to...

D. Moonfire

I'm Dylan Moonfire and this is my updated #introduction post. I'm a polymath (jack of trades) and a "large repository of useless knowledge." I'm a generalist in almost everything, but mostly for programming and writing.

On the coding side, I'm primarily a #csharp developer with a strong secondary of #typescript and #rust. I've been contributing to various #foss projects since 1993. I've also been a DBA since 1987. I didn't get a degree until 2010 so almost everything was "trial by fire" and "be an expert by Monday". I had my prima donna days beaten out of me in my early twenties, so I'm very much into maintainable, easy-to-understand code and working well with others.

On the writing side, I've been working on a single #fantasy and #steampunk setting since 2010 called Fedran. I have all genres from #romance, #adventure, #drama, #erotica, #trauma, with plenty of #queer characters. I write using #atom (which I helped maintained) and wrote an entire framework for publishing #Markdown #YAML based files that generates EPUB and PDF files. I'm a believer of the serial/Oxford comma.

Socially, I'm liberal and a socialist, believe in helping those in need, and have already seen how close all of us are from being homeless. I'm also demi, bi/omni, polyam, and gender fluid.

Outside of that, I'm have reasonable skills in #carpentry, #woodworking, electrical, and plumbing, #sewing, #illustration using #inkscape, #plaintextaccounting, and random other skills that would make me valuable in case we are invaded from another dimension.

I typically don't follow back without interactions but I don't mind if others follow me. I'm never intentionally malicious (I walk away instead), but I will say the wrong thing or overstep my bounds on occasion.
