macOSのバージョンを14.3から14.4にアップデートするとJavaがクラッシュするようになるのでアップデートを遅らせてというエントリなんだけど、その内容がエグい。

JVMはJITの実行サイクルの中で保護されたメモリ領域へのアクセスを行うことがあるが、macOSはそれに対してSIGBUSかSIGSEGVを送ってくるのでそれをハンドルしていたのが、14.4になったら突然SIGKILLを送ってくるようになりJVMはそれをハンドルしていないので落ちてしまうというもの。

この変更は14.4のアーリーアクセスには入っていない突然のもので、ユーザーはアップデートしてしまうとrevertすらできないという。Appleは何でこんな破壊的な変更をいきなり入れるのだ。 #java #mac /

#Apple’s notification model in #iOS and #macOS is broken IMHO. I don’t need to be notified of every event on every device I own. Instead, dismissing a notification on one device should dismiss it on *all* devices.

Conversely, I do want to see all my notifications on the device I’m currently working on. So if my #iPhone gets a notification while I’m using my #Mac, I want to see it on my Mac *even if it doesn’t have the relevant app installed* (i.e. my phone should send it to my Mac and display it there).

Moving from a device-centric model to a person-centric one would make notifications more seamless and less intrusive, reducing the amount of time spent reading and dealing with them. #notifications #ux #uxdesign

@unicorndeburgh I've been using #KeePass as my #passwordmanager for nearly a decade. It is one of the few pieces of software that I actually like to use. However, I've never tried to use it with #monoproject on a #mac.

Tracking down #Mac community is easy, you just start from @rileysmom and work your way backward.

Shooting from a hip here, but this is my guess:

#Linux and #Mac communities have done a pretty good switch to #Mastodon.

#Windows community, if it even exists, isn't doing as well.

I'm judging this by following graphs of notable people (not follower graphs). I don't want to at mention the people I'm looking at, but it should be obvious for anyone following tech.

Will I end up with five conflicting Python’s? Are there security implications to not letting Mac OS handle updating Python for me?
